This research was motivated by the less-than-optimal involvement of students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning and the presence of behaviors that did not fully reflect the character of the Prophet’s Companions, such as a lack of honesty, responsibility, trustworthiness, courage, and social concern. The role playing method was selected as an active and interactive learning method that provides students with direct experiences in understanding and internalizing the exemplary character of the Prophet’s Companions. This study aims to examine the planning, describe the implementation, and evaluate the use of the role playing method in PAI learning to develop the character of the Prophet’s Companions among students at SDIT Al-Fityan Legok Tangerang. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving PAI teachers, students, and school representatives. Data analysis consisted of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was established through source and technique triangulation. The results showed that: 1) the planning of the role playing method involved developing contextual scenarios, determining roles, assigning tasks, and integrating the character values of the Prophet’s Companions; 2) implementation consisted of opening, core, closing, and reflection activities, with the teacher acting as a facilitator and students actively participating; and 3) evaluation was conducted through attitude observation, performance assessment, reflection, and feedback. The implementation of role playing helped students understand and internalize the exemplary character of the Prophet’s Companions and develop courage, responsibility, cooperation, self-confidence, and the application of character values in daily life.
