Abstract

Cardiometabolic syndrome (CMS)—characterized by a cluster of risk factors such as central obesity, hypertension, and hyperglycemia—is showing an increasing prevalence in the service area of the Mamboro Community Health Center (Puskesmas) in Palu City, necessitating structured preventive and promotive interventions. This community service program aims to enhance the role of *Posyandu* cadres (specifically those focused on the elderly) and housewives in the early detection and prevention of CMS risk factors. The activities employed a participatory, community-based approach involving 91 participants in Mamboro Urban Village. The program stages included baseline anthropometric and blood biochemical assessments, followed by technical training on self-administered early detection (measuring Body Mass Index/BMI, waist circumference, blood pressure, and random blood glucose levels), the introduction of complementary therapeutic modalities (soleus push-up exercises and "smile therapy" exercises), and nutrition education emphasizing boiling or steaming as food preparation methods. Baseline results for the 91 participants revealed a central obesity prevalence of 58.2% (53 individuals), hypertension at 46% (42 individuals), and hyperglycemia (random blood glucose ≥ 200 mg/dL) at 15.4% (14 individuals). Through intensive training, participants demonstrated improved understanding of self-detection and learned simple physical exercises to help manage blood pressure and blood glucose stability. A follow-up evaluation was scheduled for one month post-activity to monitor the consistency of behavioral changes. Empowering *Posyandu* cadres through practical training and complementary therapies offers a potentially applicable alternative strategy for supporting the control of cardiometabolic risk factors at the family level.
