Abstract

This article examines the practice of receiving the Qur’an in self-ruqyah as a healing effort among the students of Gampong Qur’an Matang Seulimeng, Langsa, Aceh. Empirical data for this study were collected through in-depth interviews with teachers and students of Gampong Qur’ani regarding the practice of certain letters in the practice of self-ruqyah. Using the sociology of knowledge theory, this article concludes that verses such as Surah Al-Fâtihah, آyat al-Kursî, Al-Ikhlâsh, Al-Falaq, An-Nâs are recited together before learning activities as structured practices. These verses are not only understood as acts of worship, but also as a means of healing through the Qur’an and protection from non-physical ailments. This practice fosters inner peace, strengthens faith, and enhances students’ readiness to learn, while reinforcing collective solidarity. This study concludes that self-ruqyah is a form of Living Qur’an that demonstrates how the Qur’an is revitalized as a source of healing and protection in daily life. Keywords: Qur’anic Healing, Qur’an Reception, Ruqyah, Gampong Qur’an
