Abstract

Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is one of the additive manufacturing technologies whose geometric quality is influenced by the selection of process parameters. This study aims to evaluate the effects of infill pattern, infill density, and printing speed on the dimensional accuracy of specimens fabricated from Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate (ASA). The experiments were designed using a Taguchi L9 orthogonal array with three levels for each factor, namely grid, linear, and rectilinear infill patterns; infill densities of 40%, 50%, and 60%; and printing speeds of 30, 40, and 50 mm/s. The X, Y, Z, and diameter dimensions were measured three times and subsequently analyzed using the signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio, main effects plots, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Descriptively, infill density exhibited the largest change in the S/N ratio, with a delta value of 0.012, followed by printing speed with 0.010 and infill pattern with 0.003. The combination of a rectilinear infill pattern, 50% infill density, and a printing speed of 40 mm/s produced the best predicted response. However, all p-values were greater than 0.05, indicating that there was insufficient statistical evidence to conclude that the main effects were significant. The confirmation test resulted in a maximum dimensional deviation of 0.02 mm, demonstrating good dimensional consistency for the selected parameter combination.
