Abstract

The design of the press tool is one of the practice courses that teach the skill in designing tool forming and cutting the product from the plate. The quality of the design is determined by the ability to apply the design procedure. Competence is widely applied in the design of drawing prints with a certain level of product complexity. Practice activity of designing drawing drawing of students of Engineering Design Program of Mechanical Polytechnic of State of Bangka Belitung done conventionally, where only using drawing table or computerized depiction software then printed on drawing paper. This results in frequent errors in student design drawings. To overcome these problems required drawing prints that can form a specific product such as ashtrays, with the aim of producing a construction drawing print that can be applied and utilized in the teaching of press tool design. The method of making this tool consists of data collection, concept making, tool design, machining & testing. Based on the results of trials that have been done, carried out on 10 blank by using a lubricant in the form of vegetable oil. Of the 10 experiments the formation showed that the central pool of ashtrays can be perfectly formed, while 4 pieces of the grooves on the ear of the ashtray have not been formed well where there are still folds or curves that are not regular.

Abstract

The utilization of palm frond waste can be processed as animal feed, compost, making briquettes, and basic materials for composite panels. The utilization of palm oil frond waste for various purposes is processed by chopping it into small chunks. The chopping process using a chopping machine makes it easy for farmers and speeds up the chopping time. Several studies have been carried out on the chopping process of palm leaf midribs using different motors and various models of cutting blades, varying motor power, and motor rotation speed in order to obtain the optimal engine capacity. The design method used in the manufacture of the machine is the Pahl Beitz method, namely planning, designing product concepts, designing shapes, and designing details. The parameters observed and measured were the effective capacity of the machine, the rendemen of the chopping, and the length of the chopping results. The trial was carried out three times by chopping the fronds each weighing 5 kg. The test results of machine showed that the average effective capacity of the machine was 244.06 kg / hour so that it was included in the class A category. The average chopping rendemen on the machine was 97% and the average size was count ? 50 mm is 89.5% and has met the requirements of SNI 7580: 2010.

Abstract

Pada era industri perkembangan teknologi pada saat ini telah mengalami kemajuan yang sangat pesat, salah satunya adalah teknologi 3D printing atau juga dikenal sebagai additive manufacturing. Salah satu teknologi 3D printing yang terkenal adalah Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM). Prinsip kerja FDM adalah dengan cara ekstrusi termoplastik melalui nozzle yang panas pada melting temperature selanjutnya produk dibuat lapis perlapis. Teknologi 3D printing adalah proses pembuatan benda padat dari sebuah file digital. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen, dilakukan pada mesin 3D printing FDM model Prusa area dengan menggunakan nozzle 0,4mm. Material yang digunakan adalah filamen PLA+ dengan diameter 1,75mm variasi parameternya nozzle temperature (205oC, 215oC, 225oC), Cooling speed (100%, 90%, 80%), infill type (grid, lines, triangles, Tri hexagon, cubic, cubic subdivision, octet, quarter qubic, concentric, zigzag, cross, cross 3D dan gyroid). Penelitian ini menggunakan 39 sampel dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui hasil uji impak tertinggi dan terendah dengan pengujian impak dari parameter yang ditentukan yaitu orientasi printing 90o. Hasil dari pengujian impak tertinggi sebesar 0,00548 Joule/mm2 dengan ekperimen nomor 32 infill geometry (cubic Subdivision), cooling speed 80% dan nozzle temperature 225ºC. Sedangkan nilai uji impak terendah sebesar 0,00084 Joule/mm2 dengan ekperimen nomor 14 dan 17 infill geometry (grid) dan (Tri hexagon), cooling speed 90%, nozzle temperature 215ºC dan ekperimen nomor 27 infill geometry grid, cooling speed 80%, nozzle temperature 225ºC. hasil pengujian impak menggunakan spesimen PLA+ didapatkan nilai uji impak sebesar 0,00548 Joule/mm2, dengan ekperimen nomor 32 infill geometry cubic subdivision, cooling speed 80%, nozzle temperature 225oC.

Abstract

Salah satu pohon yang banyak tersebar di wilayah pulau Bangka adalah pelawan. Beberapa hasil yang dapat diolah dari pohon pelawan seperti madu, jamur pelawan dan teh yang terbuat dari pucuk daun pelawan. Pembuatan teh pucuk daun pelawan masih tradisional dari tahap awal sampai akhir menjadi produk berupa serbuk teh. Proses pengeringan atau pelayuan pucuk daun pelawan dilakukan dengan cara disangrai menggunakan kuali yang dipanaskan dengan kompor LPG  atau kayu bakar. Hal tersebut dilakukan secara berulang-ulang dan memerlukan waktu sekitar  5 jam untuk kapasitas 3 kg. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah merancang, membuat serta melakukan uji performansi mesin pengering pucuk daun pelawan kapasitas 10 kg/jam. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu pengumpulan data, perancangan mesin, permesinan serta perakitan komponen, uji fungsi mesin. Hasil perancangan dengan metode VDI 2222 didapatkan mesin pengering dengan sistem tabung berputar yang memiliki kemiringan 30° sehingga pucuk daun teraduk secara merata. Sistem pemanas menggunakan kompor LPG yang diposisikan sebanyak 2 titik pada bawah tabung. Selain itu, berdasarkan hasil uji coba mesin kapasitas tabung 10 kg dapat menghasilkan 4 kg pucuk daun kering dengan suhu rata-rata 83.4°C selama 1 jam.

Abstract

Composite is a system composed by mixing two or more different materials, in form and composition. Between two or more materials are insoluble in each other. Composites are very influential on the mechanical properties. The most influential factors are fiber fraction, fiber length and immersion used. This study aims to examine the effect of volume fraction variations on the mechanical properties of applied tree bark fiber reinforced composites. This study used matrix and fiber volume fraction 5% : 95%, 6% : 94%, 7% : 93% with 5% NaOH for 2 hours. The material used is fiber. Applied tree bark. Composites are made using the hand lay up method. The tests carried out were tensile test and Impact Charpy test with ASTM D638 Type 1 tensile test standard and ISO-179 impact test. The result of the highest tensile strength at 7% volume fraction that is equal to 36.32 Mpa. While the results of the smallest tensile strength at 5% volume fraction that is equal to 28.74 Mpa. And the results of the highest composite impact test at 7% volume fraction that is 0.051198 Joul/mm2. Meanwhile, the lowest impact strength was at 5% volume fraction with a value of 0.009652 Joul/mm2.

Abstract

Peyek is one of the typical Javanese snacks made from rice flour dough made from peanuts and other ingredients. The results of a survey that was carried out at Mr. Cahyo's residence were slicing 3 kg of peanuts per three days which was carried out with two slicing processes to obtain small slices. The obstacle faced by Mr. Cahyo is the slicing of peanuts which still uses manual tools from wood, where on the big day Mr. Cahyo requires 100 kg of peanuts to be sliced, so it takes a lot of time to finish. The purpose of the design of this peanut slicing machine is to produce thick slices with a size of 3-5 mm in one slicing process. The stages of implementing this final project consist of stages of data collection, planning, calculation analysis, manufacturing process, assembly process, and conducting trials. The result of the design of this machine is that the dimensions of the machine are 300×300×405 mm, and from the trial of this peanut slicing machine, the results are 3-5 mm thick slices, and the data obtained for slicing 500 grams of peanuts takes about 1 minute.

Abstract

Pantiaw is a typical food originating from Bangka Belitung. The marinade is made from fish and a mixture of other ingredients such as coriander, soy sauce, salt and other flavorings, however, for the process of stirring the pantiaw seasoning, it still uses the manual method. To simplify the process of stirring the pantiaw seasoning, a design for the pantiaw spice mixer was made with a capacity of 10 kg, as well as the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) and the machine maintenance system, a research method was needed. The method used is the VDI 2222 method which consists of 4 stages, namely planning, conceptualizing, designing, completing. The results of this design process obtained a variant of concept III with a percentage of the technical aspect assessment of 80% and the percentage of economic assessment of 100%. The results of the calculation of the container capacity of 21 kg using a motor power engine of 1 Hp with 1400 rpm, and using a pulley and V-belt belt type A with a shaft diameter of 32 mm and a v-belt length of 1321 mm. The maximum stress that occurs on the shaft diameter of 25 mm is 5 x 10-1 N/mm2

Abstract

The manufacturing industry in Indonesia has experienced significant growth. This increase has also impacted the demand for motorcycle spare parts. Currently, brake pads are composed of asbestos, which makes them prone to overheating and failure when reaching high friction temperatures. Therefore, an alternative brake pad material is an organic material mixed with coconut shell powder and bamboo fiber. This study aims to analyze the wear and hardness levels of motorcycle brake pads made from coconut shell powder and bamboo fiber. The study used varying ratios of coconut shell powder, bamboo fiber, and epoxy resin: 40:30:30, 35:35:30, and 30:40:30. Eighteen specimens were tested. Wear testing was performed using an Ogoshi Wear Tester, while hardness testing was performed using a Brinell hardness tester. The test results showed that the smallest wear rate on brake pads with variations of 40% coconut shell powder, 30% bamboo fiber and 30% epoxy resin was 0.001107984 mm3/kg.m. The highest hardness level was also in the variation of 40% coconut shell powder, 30% bamboo fiber and 30% epoxy resin at 63,0024 kg/. So it can be concluded that the greater the percentage of coconut shell powder and the smaller the percentage of bamboo fiber, the lower the wear rate. If the greater the percentage of coconut shell powder and the smaller the percentage of bamboo fiber, the higher the hardness level. So it can be concluded that a good brake pad variation is a variation of 40% coconut shell powder, 30% bamboo fiber and 30% epoxy resin.

Abstract

This study aims to design a blanking die used for mass-producing mobile phone holders while prioritizing efficiency and dimensional accuracy. The die set developed includes key components such as the punch, die, stripper, guide post, and fastening bolts. The product produced has dimensions of 138 × 63 × 2 mm and uses ST 37 steel as the raw material. Based on calculations, the required blanking force is 129,000 kN, which is considered safe for the production process. The design also accounts for an optimal clearance of 0.083 mm and a die thickness of 35 mm to effectively withstand the working load. Simulations using stress analysis methods reveal that the von Mises stress distribution on both the punch and die remains below the elastic limit of SKD11 material. The maximum stress on the punch is recorded at 2.437 × 10⁵ N/m², while on the die it reaches 5.153 × 10⁵ N/m², both well below the yield strength of SKD11, which is 2.918 × 10⁸ N/m², indicating that these components operate safely without the risk of plastic deformation. To strengthen the construction, the stripper is designed with a thickness of 12 mm, and the addition of four SCM435 bolts is recommended to improve system stability. This die design is verified through manual calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to ensure its reliability. Overall, the findings of this study demonstrate that the designed blanking die can support mass production with high precision, optimal structural strength, and long-term durability.
