Knowledge regarding the local history of Koto Pait Beringin Village (Talang Muandau District, Bengkalis Regency) currently relies on oral accounts and community memory, lacking systematic documentation or easy accessibility. This situation poses a risk of losing local historical knowledge as the generation of storytellers diminishes. This community service initiative aims to document and support the preservation of local history through research, documentation, the compilation of a history book, and the development of information boards to disseminate the village's historical narrative. The project was carried out by students from the State Islamic University (UIN) Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau participating in the 2026 Community Service Program (KKN), utilizing a participatory-descriptive approach. The activity stages included identification, field research, information gathering from the community, documentation, manuscript drafting, media production, and implementation. The project identified five historical traces: Imbo Koto, Pangkalan Batu Bosa, the Berair River (upstream and downstream sections), the Tomb of Tuk Singo, and Batu Bintang. Information was obtained through community narratives and field observations, with varying levels of evidentiary strength. The initiative resulted in two outputs: a book titled "The History of Koto Pait Beringin Village and Traces of Its Historical Sites" and a village history information board. These products provide documentation and historical information that were previously unavailable in written form within the village. The project demonstrates that participatory documentation can serve as an initial step toward community-based local history preservation, although some findings still require further verification and research.
