Abstract

Environmentally conscious character education is essential from elementary school age, particularly in Islamic elementary schools (MI). The Field Experience Practice Program (PPL) provides a strategic platform for prospective teachers to apply ecotheological approaches in classroom learning. This study aims to describe the experiences, strategies, and effectiveness of PPL students in integrating ecotheological values at MI Ma’arif Budiluhur, Kertek, Wonosobo. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a reflective autoethnographic design. Data were collected through participatory observation, documentation, and reflection journals during the PPL period. The findings show that ecotheological values were integrated through a modified unity of sciences teaching module combining Mathematics and Science competencies with Qur’anic verses on environmental preservation. The implementation was realized through the “Taman Hijau Khalifah” project, which connected geometric concepts with contextual planting practices. Students demonstrated high enthusiasm, improved higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) in connecting science and religion, and greater initiative in caring for plants and maintaining cleanliness. Challenges in time allocation and classroom management were addressed through diagnostic assessments and digital visual worksheets. The study concludes that ecotheological integration effectively fosters ecological awareness based on Islamic values and supports its adoption as a sustainable madrasah culture.
