Abstract

Bullying is aggressive behavior repeatedly perpetrated by an individual or group against another individual perceived as weaker, and it can impact the mental health of adolescents. This study aimed to analyze changes in adolescents' knowledge and attitudes regarding bullying prevention following the provision of mental health education at MTsN 1 Mamuju. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, involving both experimental and control groups. The study population consisted of 314 eighth-grade students; a sample of 176 students was selected via simple random sampling and divided into experimental and control groups, with 88 students in each. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods, including the Wilcoxon test. The results revealed significant differences between pre-test and post-test knowledge scores in both the experimental (p=0.001) and control (p=0.001) groups. Regarding attitudes, a significant difference was observed between pre-test and post-test scores in the experimental group (p=0.001), whereas no significant difference was found in the control group (p=0.396). The findings indicate an improvement in knowledge and attitudes within the experimental group following mental health education. However, since changes in knowledge were also observed in the control group, a comparative analysis of the changes between the two groups is necessary to more precisely determine the intervention's effect.
