Abstract

This The escalating global environmental crisis, including climate change, deforestation, pollution, and various ecological disasters, requires the active involvement of all sectors of society, including Islamic educational institutions, in fostering environmental awareness and responsibility. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic ecotheology in pesantren education by examining the internalization of ecological values within the curriculum, educational traditions, and environmental care practices. The approach used in this research is qualitative, and the type of research is ethnographic. The research will be conducted at two pesantren in the Lombok region, Pondok Pesantren Nurul Haramain NW Narmada, West Lombok, NTB Province. Data will be collected through several interview methods. The researchers will be directly involved in several daily pesantren activities, especially those related to environmental management. The findings propose a conceptual model for implementing Islamic ecotheology in pesantren education that strengthens the ecological character formation of santri through practices such as waste and wastewater management, the establishment of green campus areas, and sustainable water and sanitation management. In addition, Islamic ecotheological concepts are systematically integrated into the teaching and learning process. The ecotheological values reflected in these practices include tauhid (the unity of God), responsibility (amanah), environmental ethics, and environmental conservation.
