Abstract

Acne treatment can be derived from natural ingredients that contain antibacterial substances such as tannins and flavonoids, one of which is green tea with the aroma of Jasminum sambac L. The aim of this study was to formulate anti-acne preparations at several concentrations of F1 (0.5%), F2 (1%), and F3 (1.5%) in cream formulation and to test the physical stability of the ethanol extract cream of J. sambac. This research was conducted by extracting J. sambac tea dregs by the maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. Physical evaluation of the preparation was carried out on three cream formulas, including organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH test, viscosity, spreadability, adhesion, and cream type test. The ethanol extract of J. sambac tea pulp can be formulated into a cream dosage form. The stability of both F1 (0.5%) and F2 (1%) cream formulations showed pH values that did not meet the requirements. F3 results were obtained that met the requirements for physical evaluation, including organoleptic showing a stable, homogeneous preparation, pH value 7.84, viscosity test 34,167 cPs, spreadability of 5.4 cm, and adhesion of 03.19 seconds. Therefore, it can be concluded that F3, with a concentration of 1.5%, is the most physically stable.
