Abstract

Simpulan: Ekstrak etanol kulit buah dan kulit bulir jeruk nipis konsentrasi 20% efektif membersihkan smear layer dan berpotensi sebagai alternatif bahan irigasi saluran akar alami.KATA KUNCI: ekstrak etanol jeruk nipis, smear layer, irigasi saluran akar, confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM)Analysis of the potential of ethanol extract of lime (C. aurantifolia) and segment membran as a smear layer cleansing agent using Confocal Laser Scanning MicroscopyABSTRACTIntroduction: Dental implants are used to restore oral function and aesthetics and require adequate stability within the surrounding bone. In patients with maxillary atrophy, the vertical sinus lift approach without bone graft may facilitate implant placement by increasing the available bone height. This study aimed to map the available evidence regarding the outcomes and success of dental implant placement using the vertical sinus lift approach without bone graft. Methods: This study employed a scoping review design following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guidelines. Articles were identified from three databases, namely PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane, based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The review focused on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published between 2014 and 2023. Extracted data included publication year, study design, number and characteristics of patients, implant length, follow-up duration, sinus lifting technique, outcome assessment methods, implant survival rate, bone height gain, other indicators of treatment success, and complications. Results: Nine articles met the inclusion criteria, comprising six two-group RCTs and three three-group RCTs. The reviewed studies demonstrated high implant survival rates, ranging from 94.1% to 100%. Bone height gain reached up to 4.1 ± 1.0 mm. Reported complications were generally limited and included mucositis and perforation of the sinus membrane. Conclusion: The vertical sinus lift approach without bone graft demonstrates favorable clinical outcomes and may be considered a valid technique for dental implant placement in patients with atrophic maxillae when additional bone height of less than 4 mm is required. The findings support its potential as a less invasive approach while highlighting the need for further high-quality clinical studies to establish standardized indications and long-term outcomes.KEY WORDS: Lime ethanol extract, smear layer, root canal irrigation, Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM)
