The development of digital media has changed the way consumers obtain and evaluate information before making a purchase. One form of digital communication that plays a role in this process is electronic word of mouth (e-WOM), which refers to information in the form of reviews, comments, recommendations, and consumer experiences shared through various digital platforms. This study aims to analyze the role of e-WOM in encouraging consumer purchase intention, particularly in the context of Kopi Kenangan. The study employs a literature review method with a qualitative descriptive approach through the review and synthesis of 15 relevant previous studies published during the 2021–2026 period. The results indicate that e-WOM plays a role in shaping various consumer responses, such as purchase intention, purchase decisions, and repurchase intention. This role is associated with information characteristics such as quality, quantity, valence, and consistency, as well as other factors such as trust, brand image, brand awareness, perceived quality, information credibility, and information adoption. In the context of Kopi Kenangan, previous studies have shown varied results, indicating that the role of e-WOM cannot be understood solely as a direct influence on purchasing behavior. Thus, e-WOM can serve as a source of information that helps shape consumers’ perceptions and trust toward Kopi Kenangan and has the potential to encourage purchase intention. However, its influence may vary depending on the characteristics of the information, consumers, and the variables examined.
