Abstract

This study examined the effects of perceived security and trust on QRIS usage among Car Free Day traders in Padangsidimpuan City. An associative quantitative design was employed. The study population consisted of 67 active traders who accepted QRIS, and all were included through saturated sampling. Primary data were collected using a five-point Likert questionnaire and analyzed with multiple linear regression after validity, reliability, and classical-assumption testing. The results showed that perceived security had a positive and significant effect on QRIS usage (β = 0.710; p < 0.001), whereas trust did not have a significant partial effect (β = 0.149; p = 0.090). Jointly, perceived security and trust significantly explained QRIS usage (F = 53.914; p < 0.001), with an adjusted R² of 0.616. The findings indicated that transaction security was the more salient determinant for informal merchants who had already adopted QRIS. The study contributes evidence from a temporary, informal trading setting and suggests that merchant assistance should prioritize transaction verification, data protection, fraud awareness, and reliable settlement procedures.
