This study was motivated by the fact that some students still showed a lack of discipline in complying with school regulations and classroom rules, including arriving late, paying insufficient attention during lessons, and failing to complete assignments on time. These conditions indicate the need for teachers to implement appropriate strategies to develop student discipline. One strategy that can be applied is positive reinforcement, which encourages students to repeat positive behaviors. This study aimed to describe teachers’ efforts in instilling discipline through positive reinforcement among fifth-grade students at SDK Betun I. The study employed a qualitative research design with a descriptive approach. The research subjects consisted of the fifth-grade teacher and fifth-grade students of SDK Betun I. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involved data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The findings showed that teachers implemented positive reinforcement through verbal praise, rewards, motivation, smiles, and applause. The implementation of positive reinforcement positively influenced students’ discipline, as reflected in increased compliance with classroom rules, punctuality, responsibility in completing assignments, and active participation in learning. It can therefore be concluded that consistent positive reinforcement effectively supports the development of disciplined behavior both inside and outside the classroom.
