Abstract

This study aimed to determine and analyze in depth the relationship between learning independence and learning discipline among elementary school students. A correlational research design with a quantitative approach was employed to objectively measure and test the relationship between the variables using numerical data. The population consisted of all fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 93 Singkawang. Data were collected using an indirect communication technique through questionnaires distributed to the respondents, consisting of learning independence and learning discipline questionnaires. The data were analyzed using Pearson’s Product-Moment correlation analysis and a t-test. The results revealed three main findings. First, students’ learning independence at SD Negeri 93 Singkawang was categorized as high, with an achievement percentage of 75%. Second, students’ learning discipline was also categorized as high, with a percentage of 78%. Third, a significant relationship was found between learning independence and learning discipline among fourth-grade students, as indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.442, which was categorized as moderate. These findings confirm that strengthening students’ learning independence contributes positively to their learning discipline. Therefore, efforts to foster learning independence may support the development of disciplined learning behaviors among elementary school students.
