Abstract

The abuse and illicit distribution of narcotics remain important social problems that can threaten the health, character, safety, and future of the younger generation. Therefore, community-based prevention efforts are needed to increase public awareness and strengthen collective participation in preventing drug abuse. This community service activity aimed to increase the knowledge and awareness of community members regarding the dangers of narcotics, the factors that can encourage drug abuse, preventive efforts, and the importance of active community participation in creating a healthy and drug-free environment. The activity was conducted in Tumbang Tarusan through a socialization and educational approach involving community members, youth, and other participants. The implementation consisted of preparation, delivery of educational materials, discussion and interaction with participants, and evaluation of participants’ understanding of the information provided. The activity emphasized the physical, psychological, social, and legal consequences of narcotics abuse and encouraged participants to develop a collective commitment to prevent drug-related problems in their families and community. The results indicated that the socialization activity provided participants with additional information and awareness about the dangers of narcotics and the importance of early prevention. The discussion session also provided an opportunity for participants to express concerns and understand their role in preventing drug abuse. The activity implies that continuous education and collaboration among community members, families, youth, and local institutions are important strategies for strengthening community resilience against narcotics abuse and supporting the development of a healthier and better future generation.
