Abstract

The rapid growth of digital finance has made Paylater A common payment option for online shopping among university students. However, previous studies have generally examined behavioral intention, Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), and Islamic finacial lieracy separately, and have focused more on intention than on actual usage decision. This study aims to analyze the effect of behavioral intention, FoMO, dan Islamic finacial literacy on the decision of Muslim university students in East Jave to use Paylater services for online shopping. A quantitative assiciative wa applied through a closed-ended Likert-scale questionnaire distributed online to 150 Muslim students who had used Paylater. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The results show that behavioral intention, FoMO, and Islamic financial literacy each have a positive and significant effect on the decision to use Paylater, and together explain 63,4% of its variation. FoMO shows the largest path coefficient among the three variables, while Islamic financial literacy does not yet function as a restraint on Paylater use. These findings imply that financial education in higher education should address peer pressure, and that service providers should present costs and installment schemes more clearly to users.
