Abstract

This study aims to identify the forms and patterns of moral value representation in the film Jumbo and to analyze their implications for students' character development from the perspective of Islamic Religious Education. This study employs a qualitative approach using media content analysis. The primary data consist of the film Jumbo, while supporting data were obtained through interviews with 10 informants, comprising students, Islamic Religious Education teachers, and parents. Data were collected through documentary observation, documentation studies, and interviews, and were subsequently analyzed using Qualitative Content Analysis, Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis, and Islamic Religious Education Normative-Educative Analysis. The findings indicate that moral values in Jumbo are represented through three dimensions: relationships with oneself, with others, and with God. These values include self-confidence, courage, hard work, patience, sincerity, empathy, caring, friendship, gratitude, and tawakkul (reliance on God). These values are integrated into the themes of friendship, struggle, and family and have positive implications for students' character development. The synthesis of the findings demonstrates that Jumbo not only represents morality through its narrative but also constructs moral values as social and religious experiences. Theoretically, these findings reinforce the view that audiovisual media can serve as a means of internalizing moral values and akhlak (Islamic moral character). The study contributes a framework for utilizing films as contextual and relevant learning media in Islamic Religious Education.
