Abstract

Batu Tambun Road in Simbolon Village, North Padang Lawas Regency, connects surrounding districts but requires systematic geometric planning to improve its technical condition. This study mapped the road corridor using ArcGIS Pro and developed horizontal and vertical alignments with reference to the 2021 Road Geometric Design Guidelines (PDGJ 2021). Coordinates were digitized in Google Earth Pro, supplemented with elevation data through GPS Visualizer, processed in ArcGIS Pro, and integrated into Autodesk Civil 3D. The workflow produced contour mapping, an existing-ground surface, geometric design outputs, longitudinal profiles, cross-sections, and earthwork quantities. The final reported alignment length was 4,733.98 m, with 24 horizontal curves comprising nine full-circle and 15 spiral–circle–spiral curves. Fifteen vertical curves were reported, comprising eight sag and seven crest curves. The design used a speed of 60 km/h, a 7 m carriageway, and 6% superelevation. Calculated cut and fill volumes were 114,028.72 m³ and 162,236.77 m³, respectively, leaving a fill deficit of 48,208.05 m³. The integrated workflow provides a basis for road development planning. Detailed field verification remains necessary before construction.
