Abstract

Water distribution in a multi-tank system requires monitoring and control mechanisms that are capable of adjusting distribution according to the conditions of each tank. A common problem is uncontrolled filling, which can cause water overflow and inefficient water distribution. This research aims to design and develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based water distribution monitoring system using a multi-tank architecture with multi-valve control to monitor water levels and flow rates in real time and automatically regulate water distribution. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of one main tank and two distribution tanks with multi-valve control using Fuzzy Logic based on the water level and flow rate conditions of each distribution line. The system uses an ESP32 as the main controller, Float Switches to detect water levels, Water Flow Sensors to measure flow rates, solenoid valves to regulate distribution lines, and a web-based monitoring system as the monitoring interface. The research employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach combined with an experimental method. System testing was conducted through several tank-level condition scenarios to evaluate the system's response in determining distribution priorities. The test results show that the system is capable of distinguishing water-level conditions and controlling the valves according to the conditions of each tank. When both distribution tanks have water levels below the specified threshold with different levels, the system prioritizes the tank with the lower water level, while when both tanks have the same water level, both valves can be opened simultaneously. Flow-rate testing resulted in a flow rate of 5 L/min on Line A and 4 L/min on Line B, with a total flow rate of 9 L/min, while a distribution period of 10 minutes resulted in a total distributed volume of 90 L. Therefore, the developed system is capable of performing integrated water distribution monitoring and control, helping to prevent water overflow and making water distribution more organized and efficient.
