Abstract

This article aims to explain the transformation of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah (Aswaja) values in digital literary narratives and their relevance as a medium for character education. The study employs a qualitative approach using a narrative literature review of 21 academic articles published between 2022 and 2026 that discuss Aswaja values, digital literature, digital storytelling, and character education. The corpus was retrieved through academic search engines, Zenodo, ResearchGate, and Academia.edu, verified against publishers’ official pages, and analyzed through qualitative content analysis comprising data reduction, thematic categorization, and critical interpretation. The conceptual synthesis indicates that tawassuth, tawazun, tasamuh, i’tidal, and ta’awun can be transformed into digital narratives through three primary mechanisms: the representation of characters and conflicts, interactive reading, and the multimodality of text, visuals, and audio. This medium not only provides linear moral education but also fosters reflective, dialogic, and participatory learning aligned with digital literacy. In the context of character education, this medium potentially fosters attitudes of moderation, empathy, responsibility, and social awareness when combined with appropriate themes, language, and reflective activities. Thus, the transformation of Aswaja in digital literature is presented as a contextual pedagogical strategy to connect the tradition of moderate Islam with the 21st-century learning environment. The proposed framework is conceptual in nature and remains open to empirical validation in future research.
