Abstract

The increasing demand for educational infrastructure in Pontianak City necessitates the construction of safe, reliable multi-story academic buildings. This study aims to design a six-story reinforced-concrete academic building that meets the requirements for seismic resistance, structural safety, and serviceability in accordance with applicable Indonesian standards. A quantitative analytical approach was employed through preliminary structural design, three-dimensional structural modeling, seismic response analysis, evaluation of structural behavior, reinforcement design, and foundation design. The soil investigation yielded an average SPT value of 6.745, corresponding to Site Class SE. The building was classified as Risk Category IV, with design spectral parameters of SDS = 0.269 g and SD1 = 0.143 g, resulting in Seismic Design Category D. A Special Moment-Resisting Frame (SMRF) was adopted with R = 8, Ω0 = 3, and Cd = 5.5. Modal analysis achieved cumulative participation ratios of 99.82% in the X direction and 100% in the Y direction, with interstory drift remaining within allowable limits. The foundation system uses 35 × 35 cm square precast mini piles with a 28 m embedment depth. The proposed design complies with applicable structural and seismic provisions and provides a practical reference for the design of academic reinforced concrete buildings in Pontianak City. The increasing demand for educational infrastructure in Pontianak City necessitates the construction of safe, reliable multi-story academic buildings.
