Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is an important effort to improve health quality, particularly among early childhood and school-age children who are in a stage of development and habit formation related to healthy living behaviors. One simple yet beneficial implementation of PHBS is proper handwashing with soap and running water. This educational activity was conducted at SDN 2 Muncang Kopong involving fourth-grade students. The community service program aimed to improve students' knowledge regarding the importance of handwashing as part of implementing PHBS in their daily lives. The activity used an educational approach consisting of material delivery, demonstration of the six-step handwashing technique, hands-on practice, and evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests. The pre-test was administered before the educational activity to determine the students' initial level of knowledge, while the post-test was conducted after the delivery of the material and practical session to assess changes in students' understanding. The results showed an improvement in students' understanding of the importance of handwashing, appropriate times to wash their hands, and the proper steps for handwashing. PHBS education through handwashing practice can help establish clean and healthy habits in the daily lives of school-age children and increase students' awareness of maintaining personal hygiene.
