Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of work-life balance and work stress on employee performance with job satisfaction as an intervening variable at Perumda Tirta Uli Pematangsiantar. The research method used is quantitative with a survey approach. The research population consisted of all 127 employees of Perumda Tirta Uli Pematangsiantar, with a sample of 96 respondents selected using proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires with a 1–5 Likert scale. The data analysis method used was Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Square (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results show that: (1) work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction (β = 0.487; p < 0.05); (2) work stress has a negative and significant effect on job satisfaction (β = -0.356; p < 0.05); (3) work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on employee performance (β = 0.312; p < 0.05); (4) work stress has a negative and significant effect on employee performance (β = -0.287; p < 0.05); (5) job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on employee performance (β = 0.421; p < 0.05); and (6) job satisfaction was proven to partially mediate the relationship between work-life balance and work stress on employee performance.
