Abstract

Access to reliable and sustainable energy remains a significant challenge for many rural communities in Indonesia. This study presents the implementation of a community-scale micro-hydropower innovation in Kampung Gadog, Sukamahi Village, Sukaresmi District, Cianjur Regency, West Java. The project was conducted through a community service program aimed at utilizing local water resources to provide clean and renewable electricity. The methodology consisted of field surveys, resource assessment, system design, equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and community training. The study identified a cascade irrigation system supplied by the Cikadu tributary with relatively stable water discharge throughout the year, making it suitable for micro-hydropower generation. The implemented system successfully generated electricity to support community needs while promoting local participation in planning, construction, operation, and maintenance. The results demonstrate that community-based micro-hydropower technology can serve as an effective solution for rural energy access, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment. Continuous monitoring and capacity building are recommended to ensure long-term operational sustainability
