Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of intake air temperature on power output, thermal efficiency, and heat rate of the Tello Gas-Powered Power Plant (PLTG Tello) using a quantitative descriptive-correlational approach based on actual operational data. Sixty-six operational records (N = 66) collected between February and May 2026, filtered to a relative humidity range of 65-75%, were analyzed using Pearson correlation and linear/quadratic regression. The results show that intake air temperature has no significant effect on power output (r = -0.030, p = 0.811), thermal efficiency (r = -0.022, p = 0.864), or heat rate (r = 0.031, p = 0.802). Although the direction of all three relationships is consistent with Brayton-cycle theory, the strength of the relationships is very weak within the observed temperature range of 20.5-35.8°C. The contribution of intake air temperature to variations in plant performance is only 0.05-2.12% (R²), while more than 97% of the variation is explained by other factors, particularly operational load level. These findings indicate that load-dispatch management and equipment maintenance play a more decisive role in determining PLTG Tello's performance than intake air temperature variation within the observed tropical climate range.
