Abstract

Stunting is a multidimensional public health problem because it is related to chronic malnutrition, recurrent infections, family conditions, the environment, access to services, and program governance. This study aims to analyze the implementation of policies to accelerate stunting reduction in improving the quality of public health by placing the definition, benefits, and objectives of health policies as the basis for analysis. The research uses a literature study with a main corpus of 12 scientific articles on policies, determinants, programs, and implementation of stunting handling in Indonesia as well as official government documents. The results of the study show that Presidential Regulation Number 72 of 2021 has established a holistic and integrative national framework through cross-sector coordination, specific and sensitive nutrition interventions, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and funding. SSGI 2024 data shows that the national stunting prevalence has decreased from 21.5% in 2023 to 19.8% in 2024. However, the literature still shows variations in implementation between regions influenced by the availability of human resources, funding, infrastructure, coordination, community knowledge, behavior change, and implementation capacity. The findings show that there is a gap between national policy design and implementation capacity at the local level. Thus, policies to accelerate stunting reduction are substantively in line with health policy objectives, but sustainable improvement in the quality of public health requires strengthening implementation capacity, cross-sector convergence, target accuracy, and data-driven monitoring.
