Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to develop and evaluate Treasure Hunt-based learning media to enhance students’ learning motivation. Novelty: The innovation of this study lies in the integration of a learning model, treasure map, and question cards through a Design Thinking approach into a structured, interactive, and contextual learning medium. Methods: This study employed the ADDIE development model integrated with the five stages of Design Thinking: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. The research was conducted at an elementary school in Malang City involving 28 students and one classroom teacher. Data were collected using expert validation instruments, student response questionnaires, engagement observation sheets, and learning motivation questionnaires. The data were analyzed descriptively using feasibility percentages and N-Gain scores to determine the effectiveness of the developed media. Results: The findings revealed that the developed media achieved desirability, feasibility, and viability scores of 89.58%, 84.70%, and 87.49%, respectively, indicating a highly feasible category. Furthermore, the N-Gain score of 0.63 was categorized as moderate, demonstrating a meaningful improvement in students’ learning motivation after using the media. Conclusion: The study concludes that Treasure Hunt-based learning media can effectively support and strengthen students’ motivation to learn Indonesian at the elementary school level by providing an interactive, engaging, and contextual learning experience.
