Abstract

A law firm is a professional service organization with complex work processes, as each case involves various activities, ranging from receiving client information, consultation, document collection and verification, case analysis, strategy formulation, preparation of legal documents, review, legal action, monitoring, to reporting. Such complexity may potentially lead to waiting time, repetitive work, document retrieval difficulties, and unclear workflow. This community service activity aims to apply Process Mapping as an Industrial Engineering approach to improve the efficiency of case management at MFP Lawfirm. The implementation method consisted of observation, interviews, process identification, development of the Current State Process Map, identification of activities that potentially do not add value, development of the Future State Process Map, socialization, implementation, and evaluation. The measurement result showed that before the improvement, the total case management time was 540 minutes, consisting of 390 minutes of processing time and 150 minutes of waiting time. Following improvements through standardized case intake, document checklists, task and responsibility allocation, standardized review, and digital document storage, the total case management time decreased to 390 minutes, consisting of 330 minutes of processing time and 60 minutes of waiting time. Therefore, the total case management time was reduced by 27.78%, while processing time decreased by 15.38% and waiting time was reduced by 60%. The results indicate that Process Mapping can assist MFP Lawfirm in visualizing the case management workflow, identifying inefficient activities, clarifying personnel responsibilities, and establishing a foundation for work process standardization.
