Abstract

This study examines human resource management in curriculum development at An Najah Islamic Boarding School for University Students (Pesantren Mahasiswa An Najah) in Purwokerto. The primary issue addressed in this study is the need for professional human resource management to ensure that the curriculum is able to preserve the tradition of Islamic scholarship while remaining responsive to contemporary developments. This study aims to analyze the roles of caregivers, teaching staff, administrators, and students in supporting curriculum development within the pesantren. This research employs a qualitative field research approach. The research subjects include pesantren caregivers, teaching staff, management personnel, and student administrators. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and triangulation techniques. The data were then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that key management functions namely planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling have been implemented systematically to support the integration of traditional (salaf) and modern curricula. Programs such as Qur’anic memorization (tahfidz), language development, classical Islamic text studies, student organizations, writing initiatives, and entrepreneurship demonstrate that curriculum development is oriented toward the holistic formation of students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor competencies. This study recommends strengthening human resource training, leadership development, data-driven evaluation, and knowledge management systems to ensure the sustainability of curriculum innovation in Islamic boarding schools.
