Abstract

Learning motivation is a crucial factor in students’ academic success. However, there are still students with low learning motivation due to the influence of their social environment, particularly peer interactions. This study aims to analyze the contribution of peer interactions to the learning motivation of Hindu students in the subjects of Hindu Religious Education and Character Education at SMAN 4 Mataram. The study employed a mixed-methods approach with a sequential exploratory design using an ex post facto approach. The initial phase was conducted qualitatively through non-participant observation and documentation to explore the phenomena occurring. The results indicate that peer interactions influence students’ enthusiasm, engagement, and learning habits. The subsequent phase employed a quantitative approach through the distribution of questionnaires to 181 Hindu students at SMAN 4 Mataram. Data analysis utilized SPSS with descriptive and inferential statistics, as well as Spearman’s correlation test. The research results indicate that the level of peer interaction is classified as good with an average of 77.36, while student learning motivation is classified as very good with an average of 65.72. A Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.696 with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05 indicates a positive and significant relationship between peer interaction and learning motivation. This relationship contributes 48.4% to students’ learning motivation
