Abstract

This research is motivated by the role of Balinese Hindu religious traditions as non-formal educational media that transmit the values of Tattwa, Susila, and Acara. However, ritual practices are often carried out more formally than meaningfully, causing traditions to be understood merely as customary obligations. This phenomenon is also found in the Pangelemijian Tradition in Pujungan Village. This study aims to describe the implementation process and philosophical meaning of the Pangelemijian Tradition, identify the Hindu Religious Education values contained within it, and analyze its implications for education, socio-culture, and society. This sudy used a qualitative method with data collection techniques consisting of observation, structured interviews, documentation, and literature study. The data were analyzed using Historical-Cultural Theory, Ceremony System Theory, and Value Theory. The results show that: (1) the Pangelemijian Tradition is carried out at Pura Bedugul in Pujungan Village during Purnama Sasih Kapat as part of the Sabeh Negtegang ceremony. Its uniqueness lies in the use of a deer head mask danced in a “klincang-klincung” manner around the temple three times as a symbol of gratitude to Dewi Sri and protection of agricultural land from pests. (2) The Hindu Religious Education values contained in this tradition include Tattwa, Susila, and Acara. (3) This tradition functions as a non-formal educational medium, strengthens local cultural identity, and reinforces social solidarity within the community.
