Abstract

This research aims to improve the listening ability of children aged 5-6 years through the application of the storytelling method using Pop Up Book media in Kindergarten Penserus Bangsa 2. The research uses the Kurt Lewin model of Class Action Research (PTK) which consists of the stages of planning, implementing actions, observation, and reflection which are carried out in two cycles. The research subjects amounted to 15 children of group B consisting of 8 boys and 7 girls. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, documentation, and field notes. The data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive approaches. The results of the study show that children's listening skills have increased in each cycle. The success rate in the pre-cycle was 58.33%, increasing to 72.08% in Cycle I, and reaching 90.83% in Cycle II. This increase shows that the use of Pop Up Book media is able to attract children's attention, increase concentration, and make it easier for children to understand the content of stories. Thus, the storytelling method using Pop Up Book is effective in improving the listening ability of children aged 5–6 years.
