Abstract

Metabolic risk can emerge during adolescence and may be influenced by dietary patterns. This study described sugar, salt, and fat (SSF) consumption and biomedical indicators among students at SMAN 17 Palembang. A descriptive cross-sectional design included 52 students aged 15–17 years selected through stratified purposive sampling. Food intake was assessed using an online Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), while blood pressure and random blood glucose were measured using standard procedures. Most participants had blood pressure and random blood glucose within normal ranges, although 17.3% had elevated blood pressure. Food-consumption data showed high intake of carbohydrate-rich foods, fried or processed foods, and sweetened beverages, indicating frequent exposure to foods high in SSF. Because dietary data were summarized at an aggregate level, direct associations between individual intake and biomedical outcomes could not be tested. School-based healthy-canteen policies and nutrition education are relevant preventive measures, while future studies should collect individual-level dietary data to examine associations with metabolic risk indicators.
