Abstract

Poverty alleviation has become a homework that continues without stopping. Global poverty alleviation, which has been going well so far, has changed direction due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The World Bank noted that poverty alleviation efforts in 2021 did not achieve rapid enough improvement to return poverty levels to previous year levels. Central Java's poverty, which had increased during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, both in terms of numbers and percentages, has shown a decline in 2022. Unlike poverty which shows a downward trend, Central Java's Gini ratio continues to increase during the 2020-2022 period. This study aims to explore the socio-economic aspects that determine poverty in Central Java Province during the 2020-2022 pandemic through descriptive statistical methods. All variables used come from the March 2020 and 2022 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) and are presented in graphical and cross-tabulation form. The results of the descriptive analysis reveal variations in the characteristics of poor and non-poor households during the 2020-2022 pandemic. These differences in characteristics include the average number of household members (ART), gender of the Head of Household (KRT), average per capita expenditure per month, educational level of the household head, business field according to completed education and the main source of household income. ladder. The average age variable for household heads in this study did not differ between poor and non-poor residents during the pandemic.
