Abstract

Poverty is still a major problem in the development of a country, one of which is Indonesia. The government implements various programs to eradicate poverty, one of which is through social protection. This research aims to determine the characteristics of poverty with the social insurance index and the influence of education, TPT, GRDP, HDI, population density, and social insurance on poverty in Indonesia in 2023. The social insurance index has been previously formed using factor analysis with the principal component analysis method . The characteristics of poverty with the social insuranceindex are described using distribution maps and quadrant analysis. There are similarities in the poverty distribution pattern with the social insuranceindex. Meanwhile, in the quadrant analysis, an inverse relationship was found between the poverty level and the social insurance index. Then, to find out the effect of education, TPT, GRDP, HDI, population density and social insurance on poverty in Indonesia in 2023, it was analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis with the ordinary least squares method. The research results show that there is a significant influence simultaneously for all independent variables, but partially only education, GRDP, HDI and social insurance significantly influence poverty in Indonesia in 2023. Only the education variable has a positive influence on poverty, while GRDP, HDI, and social insurance have an influence negative on poverty.

Abstract

Health is a fundamental need and a crucial agenda in both national and global development, as outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). Jambi Province still faces challenges related to poverty, with a rate of 7.10 percent in 2024, which impacts access to healthcare services, especially among vulnerable groups. Although the coverage of the National Health Insurance (JKN) continues to expand, there remains a gap in participation among low-income populations. This study utilizes secondary data sourced from the March 2024 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The unit of analysis in this study is the poor population in Jambi Province in 2024. The ownership rate of health insurance in the form of BPJS for the Poor (PBI) among the poor population is 34.79 percent. To identify the variables that influence the ownership of health insurance among the poor in Jambi Province, a binary logistic regression analysis was employed. The results of the study indicate that regional classification, household size, head of household's education level, age, gender, employment sector, employment status, and history of outpatient or inpatient care significantly affect BPJS PBI ownership, both simultaneously and partially.
