Abstract

Health is a fundamental need and a crucial agenda in both national and global development, as outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). Jambi Province still faces challenges related to poverty, with a rate of 7.10 percent in 2024, which impacts access to healthcare services, especially among vulnerable groups. Although the coverage of the National Health Insurance (JKN) continues to expand, there remains a gap in participation among low-income populations. This study utilizes secondary data sourced from the March 2024 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The unit of analysis in this study is the poor population in Jambi Province in 2024. The ownership rate of health insurance in the form of BPJS for the Poor (PBI) among the poor population is 34.79 percent. To identify the variables that influence the ownership of health insurance among the poor in Jambi Province, a binary logistic regression analysis was employed. The results of the study indicate that regional classification, household size, head of household's education level, age, gender, employment sector, employment status, and history of outpatient or inpatient care significantly affect BPJS PBI ownership, both simultaneously and partially.
