Abstract

Gout or commonly called gout arthritis is a metabolic disease caused by excess uric acid compounds in the body, lack of excretion or increased urine intake. The clinical picture of gout is a joint disease related to metabolism. Research Method: This type of research uses the quasi-experimental design method  , which is a research design that has not been categorized as a serious experiment, the type of pre-experimental research using the type of one group pretest-posttest is a research activity that provides a pretest (initial test) before treatment, and after being given treatment, then the final test of the posstest). Results: The results of this study show that the administration of Chinese betel leaf boiled water (Peperomia pellucida) has been proven to have a significant influence on reducing uric acid levels in the elderly at the Rawang Health Center. Before the intervention was carried out, all respondents (100%) were in the category of abnormal uric acid levels, namely women with > levels of 6 mg/dl and men > 7 mg/dl. However, after being given a decoction of Chinese betel leaves for seven consecutive days, as many as 24 respondents (68.6%) experienced a decrease to the normal category, while 11 respondents (31.4%) were still in the abnormal category. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) which means that there is a real influence between the administration of Chinese betel leaf decoction and a decrease in uric acid levels. Conclusion: There is a significant effect of the administration of Chinese betel leaf decoction water on reducing uric acid levels in hyperuricemia patients in the working area of the Rawang Health Center, with a p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05). These results show that the administration of Chinese betel leaf decoction water has been proven to be effective in reducing uric acid levels in people with hyperuricemia.
