Abstract

Tfua Ton is a ritual ceremony carried out by the community in Napan Village to ask for rain and soil fertility to Uis Neno (God) and Uis Pah (deceased ancestors). In the ritual there is a Timorese Gong instrument that has an important role in it. The gong consists of Tonu mese, Ote and Kbola and one drum (Ke'e). The purpose of this study is to analyze the function of the Timorese Gong Music in the Tfua Ton Ritual Ceremony. The method used in this study is qualitative interpretive with phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques with observation, interview and document study techniques. Check the validity of the data by using data triangulation, researcher’s triangulation, triangulation of theories, methods and techniques. For data analysis, the researchers used the theory of music function from Allan P. Merriam with stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion (verification). The results of the study are Timorese Gong in the Tfua Ton ritual have an important role in it and have become a part of traditional rituals. Timorese Gong In the Tfua Ton ritual has several functions, including functioning as aesthetic appreciation, as entertainment, as an emotional expression, as communication and education, integrating society, as an endorsement of social institutions and religious rituals. Timorese Gong can function to show the existence, character and identity of the Dawan people in Napan Village. The results of this study can provide understanding and increase knowledge to the people of Napan Village and the younger generation to better understand Timorese Gong music in the Tfua Ton ritual, besides it is expected that the Napan Village community will continue to preserve and maintain Timorese Gong music as one of the traditional music of the society.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk memahami tentang bentuk musik ritmik Gong Timor dalam upacara ritual Tfua Ton berdasarkan elemen-elemen irama yang terkandung didalamnya serta memahami lebih dalam tentang makna simbolik Gong Timor dalam upacara ritual Tfua Ton. Metode penelitian menggunakan kualitatif deskriptif dengan desain penelitian fenomenologi. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumen. Teknik analisis data dilakukan melalui proses reduksi, penyajian dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa, bentuk musik Gong Timor terdiri dari beberapa elemen irama yaitu ketukan, aksen dan pola irama. Makna simbolik yang terkandung pada Gong Timor dalam upacara ritual Tfua Ton yaitu sebagai simbol komunikasi, keperkasaan, karakter dan identitas masyarakat Desa Napan. Simbol tersebut dimaknai dengan adanya perjuangan masyarakat dalam memperjuangkan kehidupan dan kebutuhan ekonomi masyarakat setempat. Dalam ritual tersebut Gong timor dimaknai sebagai penghubung antara masyarakat dengan para leluhur dan alam yang mendiami tempat tersebut. Gong Timor tersebut mamiliki makna simbolik yang hanya bisa dipahami oleh masyarakat setempat. Gong Timor dalam upacara ritual Tfua Ton telah menjadi satu kesatuan yang tidak dapat dipisahkan. The Form and Meaning of Gong Timor on the Ritual Ceremony of Tfua Ton in Napan.This paper aims to understand the rhythmic musical form of Gong Timor in the Tfua Ton ritual based on the rhythm elements contained in it and to understand more deeply the symbolic meaning of Gong Timor in the Tfua Ton ritual. The research method uses descriptive qualitative research design with phenomenology. Research data were collected using observation, interview and document study techniques. The data analysis technique was done through the process of reduction, presentation, and concluding. The results of this study indicate that the Gong Timor music form consists of several elements of rhythm, namely beats, accents and rhythm patterns. The symbolic meaning contained in the Gong Timor in the Tfua Ton ritual ceremony is as a symbol of communication, strength, character, and identity of the people of Napan Village. The symbol is interpreted by the struggle of the community in fighting for lives and economic needs. In the ritual, Gong Timor is interpreted as a liaison among the community and the ancestors, and nature that inhabit the place. The Gong Timor has a symbolic meaning that can only be understood by the local community. Gong Timor in the Tfua Ton ritual ceremony has become an inseparable unit.Keywords: timor gong; tfua ton; symbolic meaning

Abstract

In regular masses, the ordinarium song consisting of Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei with Dolo-dolo motif is the most frequently sung. However, in reality, mistakes often happened when singing this ordinarium song, including inaccuracies in terms of accent and rhythm that do not characterize as the Dolo-dolo motif. This Community Service activity aims to help the parishioners of St. Fransiskus Assisi at BTN-Kupang City to sing the ordinarium song with the Dolo-dolo motif properly and correctly through producing tutorials. Making tutorials began with studying the ordinarium song with the Dolo-dolo motif by Matheus Weruin. Based on the results of the study, the team then made a video tutorial on how to sing the ordinarium song in a good and correct Dolo-dolo motif, starting from how to read the notation to reading the lyrics/poems. As meant to make it easier for people to learn the material provided. The most important matter emphasized in each tutorial is the accent and rhythm of the Dolo-dolo motif of each song. Based on the results from trials in small choir groups and evaluation with partners, using the video tutorial that has been made, the group was able to sing the ordinarium song with the Dolo-dolo motif properly and correctly for each type of sound or combined sound. The video was distributed to choir teams in the parish to be rehearsed and sung in celebration of the mass.

Abstract

Ensemble music is a musical presentation consisting of a mixture of several musical instruments that contain rhythmic, melodic, and harmonious elements. Etymologically, the word ensemble comes from the French word ensemble which means group. An ensemble is also known as a musical ensemble that plays one or several types of musical instruments. In education at school, ensembles have a fairly important role in improving the quality of students' music. In addition to gaining theoretical ensemble knowledge, students are also directed to practice musical ensembles, so that they can channel their creativity in an ensemble game. The objectives of this ensemble training activity are: 1) Hone the musical skills of each individual 2) Create harmony between musical instruments 3) Prepare the ensemble group to be performed. The methods used in ensemble training are the drill method and peer tutors. The result of this activity is that students can have the ability to playing music ansambel.

Abstract

The MBKM (Free Learning Independent Campus) activity is an activity that is required for every student at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Widya Mandira Catholic University, Kupang, to disseminate new knowledge and gain factual experiences from the place where field activities are carried out, in order to improve the teacher competency of prospective students. Teacher. This library arrangement activity aims to create a library environment that supports the learning process and to make it easier for students to find reading books that suit their interests. This activity uses a participation method that involves the active participation of MBKM participants outside the classroom and library staff. Results of activities MB KM participants succeeded in completing the library arrangement program well. libraries that were not initially organized, such as books that were still scattered on tables and not arranged according to book categories, were then arranged on bookshelves according to book categories. with library arrangement activities students will be more interested in visiting and even reading books in the library.
