Abstract

The sustainability of sustainable agricultural land is currently a major concern for the Indonesian government. The limited availability of agricultural land and the lack of government intervention have led to a decline in agricultural productivity. Therefore, this study aims to explore the government's strategies, in the form of policies, to support sustainable agriculture, especially at the local level. This study uses qualitative analysis to discuss the relationship between government planning and the reality experienced by farmers on the ground. This study uses secondary data, including official reports and archival documents from the Kampar district government. This study shows that the Kampar government's strategy for sustainable agriculture involves implementing regional regulations. Furthermore, an agricultural equipment and machinery assistance program is provided to farmer groups. An institutional approach is used to implement programs and policies to ensure consistent application of regulations. The Kampar government distributes agricultural equipment and machinery evenly to maintain the stability of agricultural production throughout rural areas. This study concludes that policies, such as local-level regulations and agricultural machinery assistance, are important strategies for supporting sustainable agriculture. This study has limitations in the use of secondary data, such as government documents and archives. Future research should consider the social barriers to sustainable agriculture programs, using primary data.
