Abstract

Muntuk Village, Bantul Regency, is one of Indonesia’s bamboo handicraft centers with high economic potential; however, it faces several challenges, including the absence of artisan institutions, limited knowledge of branding and marketing, dependence on external raw materials, and weak regeneration of craftsmen. The Tri Saka Bamboo community service program aims to enhance the capacity of bamboo craftsmen through institutional strengthening, human resource development, and sustainable raw material management. The program was implemented for four months in Tangkil Hamlet using a phased approach consisting of program socialization, establishment and mentoring of artisan groups, marketing and branding development training using a Training of Trainer (ToT) approach, bamboo cultivation training based on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), and the procurement and planting of superior bamboo seedlings. The results indicate the formation of ten bamboo artisan groups, significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills in branding, marketing, and digital promotion as reflected by increased post-test scores, and enhanced understanding of sustainable bamboo cultivation practices. Furthermore, the distribution of 110 bamboo seedlings from 17 superior varieties supports raw material independence and environmental conservation. Overall, the Tri Saka Bamboo program effectively strengthens the economic, social, and ecological capacities of bamboo craftsmen and has strong potential as a sustainable village empowerment model based on bamboo handicrafts.
