Abstract

The research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students on the topic of congruence and similarity, as well as the limited use of interactive learning media. This research aimed to determine the improvement in students’ learning outcomes through the implemntation og mathematics learning using Geogebra as a supprting tool at SMPI Darudda’wah. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-expremental research design using a One Group Pretest- Posttest Design. The sample consisted of all 15 Grade VIII student at SMPI Darudda’wah, selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through observation and tests in the form of prest and posttest. The learning outcome data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the N-Gain test. The results showed that the implementation og learning using Geogebra as a supporting tool achieved a percentage of 88.75%, which was categorized as very good. The descriptive statistical analysis showed that the average pretest score of 35.20 increased to 81.33 on the posttest. The minimum score increased from 24 to 72, while the maximum score increased from 48 to 96. The N-Gain analysis resulted in an average score of 0.70, which was categorized as high. Of the 15 students, 8 students achieved a high N-Gain category and 7 students achieved a medium category. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the implementation of mathematics learning using Geogebra as a supporting tool was accompanied by an improvement in students’ learning outcomes on the tropic of congruence and similarity in Grade VIII at SMPI Darudda’wah.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential for students in solving mathematical literacy problems because they are required not only to obtain answers but also to understand problems, determine appropriate strategies, provide reasoning, and verify their solutions. This study aims to describe the critical thinking skills of tenth-grade students at MA Darullughah Wadda'wah in solving mathematical literacy problems on the topic of Systems of Linear Equations and Inequalities based on five critical thinking indicators proposed by Ennis. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The subjects consisted of 15 tenth-grade students at MA Darullughah Wadda'wah in the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through a written test consisting of five mathematical literacy essay problems and analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills had not yet developed fully and consistently across all indicators. Students demonstrated the ability to provide simple explanations and develop basic skills, although their levels of achievement varied. Their abilities to draw conclusions and determine appropriate strategies and techniques also varied. The indicator of providing further explanation was the most difficult to achieve, as students experienced difficulties in providing reasons, evaluating solution steps, and verifying the correctness of their results. Therefore, learning activities should encourage students to explain their reasoning, evaluate solution processes, select appropriate strategies, and verify their results.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving ability is one of the important abilities in mathematics learning. Each student has different abilities in solving problems, one of which is influenced by personality type. This study aims to describe the mathematical problem-solving ability of Grade XI students at MA Darullughah Wadda’wah in terms of extrovert and introvert personality types on the topic of arc length. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consisted of 17 students selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through a personality type questionnaire and an essay test based on Polya’s problem-solving steps, namely understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back. Data were analyzed through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities varied, with an average score of 64.59, categorized as sufficient. There were 9 students (52.94%) with an extrovert personality type and 8 students (47.05%) with an introvert personality type. Extrovert students tended to fall into the low and very low categories and experienced difficulties in carrying out the plan and checking their solutions. Meanwhile, introvert students demonstrated relatively better abilities and tended to be more careful in understanding problems, developing strategies, and carrying out solutions. It can be concluded that students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities differ based on personality type, with introvert students demonstrating relatively better abilities than extrovert students.
