Abstract

Personal financial management is an important skill for young people to manage income, prioritize needs, and control expenses. However, the ability to prepare budgets and record transactions systematically needs to be strengthened through practical and applicable learning. This community service activity aimed to improve young people's personal financial management skills through training in budgeting and digital expense recording in Blang Pulo Village, Lhokseumawe City. The activity was conducted on October fourth, two thousand twenty-six, involving twenty-one participants aged twenty to twenty-four years. The implementation stages consisted of coordination, needs assessment, material delivery, demonstration, guided practice, and evaluation. Participants were trained to identify funding sources, prioritize needs, prepare budgets, categorize transactions, and record and review expenses using digital media. Evaluation was conducted through pre-tests and post-tests, practice worksheets, observation, demonstration checklists, and participant feedback. The results showed improvements in understanding the function of budgeting, from less than half of participants to most participants; transaction categorization skills, from less than one-third of participants to most participants; budgeting skills, from less than one-quarter of participants to most participants; and digital transaction recording skills, from less than one-fifth of participants to nearly all participants. Nearly all participants responded positively to the training materials. These findings indicate that practice-based training can be an effective approach to strengthening basic personal financial management skills among young people.
