Abstract

Environmental cleanliness is an important aspect in improving the quality of life of the community while maintaining the sustainability of the ecosystem. Paropo Village, located in the Lake Toba area, has great tourism potential so that environmental cleanliness is a determining factor in the attractiveness of the destination. This study aims to analyze the level of concern of the Paropo Village community towards environmental cleanliness, identify factors that influence environmental care behavior, and formulate strategies to increase public awareness. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a field study approach through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that community concern is quite good, reflected in active participation in mutual cooperation activities and village cleanliness programs. However, littering behavior is still found, especially in tourist areas, so that tourist attractions look dirty and this indicates a lack of community participation in a sense of environmental concern. This study shows that environmental cleanliness requires support and cooperation from village officials to the community and the provision of waste disposal facilities, with it being expected that the Paropo Village community can collaborate in building and preserving the environment and tourist attractions in Paropo Village.
