Abstract

This study was conducted to assess the condition and quality of concrete in bridges across the Bangka Belitung Islands Province using non-destructive methods: Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV), Rebound Hammer, and crack depth testing. This evaluation is crucial for determining the extent of concrete material degradation caused by factors such as structural age, environmental conditions, and construction quality, all of which can impact bridge performance. The research involved collecting field data from various structural elements—including girders, decks, piers, and abutments—and analyzing the results against BS 1881: Part 203:1986, ASTM C597-16, and SNI 2847:2019 standards. The findings indicate that UPV values ranged from 2,931 to 3,442 m/s, predominantly falling into the "medium" condition category. Estimated concrete compressive strength, based on the correlation between UPV and Rebound Hammer data, ranged from 15.60 to 33.12 MPa, with 64.29% of the bridges meeting the minimum standard of 21 MPa. Crack depth testing revealed depths ranging from 13 to 51 mm, mostly classified as shallow to medium. Overall, the combined use of UPV and Rebound Hammer methods provided complementary evaluation results regarding both internal and surface concrete quality. These findings suggest that while most bridges remain in serviceable condition, certain elements require further attention and maintenance to preserve their performance and service life.
