Abstract

Non-formal religious education faces major challenges in the digital era, particularly in sustaining adolescents' interest in religious learning. This community service program established Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Ula (MDTU) Baitul Ulum Purbayasa in Central Java to address declining participation in Quranic education caused by gadget use, social media, and changing peer interactions. The program aimed to provide adolescent-friendly Islamic education, strengthen religious character, and promote community-based preventive education. A participatory empowerment approach involved observation, stakeholder coordination, institutional establishment, program implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. Results showed active participants increased from 12 to 47 adolescents, weekly attendance rose from 45% to 89%, and 78% of parents reported positive behavioral changes. MDTU Baitul Ulum also obtained an official operational permit (IJOP No. 364/2024) from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. These findings demonstrate that community-based madrasah diniyah effectively supports adolescent character development and preventive religious education.
