Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of developing co-curricular activities as a supporting medium for Islamic Religious Education and Character Education (PAI and BP) learning in schools. One form of co-curricular activity implemented at SMPN 6 Karawang Barat is the Eco-Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren Ekologi) program, which integrates religious learning with environmental awareness education. This study aims to describe the implementation of co-curricular activities through the Eco-Islamic Boarding School program in improving students’ learning outcomes in PAI and BP at SMPN 6 Karawang Barat. The study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of the principal, PAI and BP teachers, and students participating in the Eco-Islamic Boarding School activities The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the program was carried out through three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. In the planning stage, the school systematically designed the program by integrating PAI and BP materials with environmental care activities. The implementation stage was conducted through activities such as Qur’an recitation, religious lectures, worship practices, memorization of short surahs, community service activities, tree planting, and waste management. Meanwhile, the evaluation stage was conducted by observing students’ participation, behavioral changes, and understanding of the learning materials. The Eco-Islamic Boarding School program had a positive impact on improving students’ learning outcomes in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. In addition to enhancing students’ religious understanding, the program also helped shape religious character, discipline, responsibility, and students’ environmental awareness within the school environment.
