Abstract

This article aims to explore the life before Adam. It employs a qualitative method with a focus on thematic analysis from the perspective of al-Ṭabāṭabā'ī as presented in his tafsir, al-Mīzān fī Tafsīr al-Qur’ān. According to the Iranian exegete, the dialogue between the Angels and Allah recorded in Surah al-Baqarah: 30 indicates the existence of living beings on Earth before the creation of Adam. His interpretation of Surah Fuṣṣilat: 25, al-Nūr: 45, and al-Nisā’:1 reveals the beings that were present prior to Adam’s descent, namely jinn, animals, and prehistoric humans categorized within the hominidae family. By applying the grounded theory approach, this study finds that al-Ṭabāṭabā'ī rejects the theory of macroevolution of the human body, as reflected in his interpretation of the phrase nafs wāḥidah in Surah al-Nisā’: 1. There, he affirms that all humans originated from this one soul, which he identifies as Adam and Eve. In other words, humans today do not have a genealogical connection with any ancient humans, and therefore have never undergone significant changes in their bodies because since Adam, the first human created, he was already in the most perfect physical condition.

Tolerance and accommodativeness to local culture among students in Ma'had 'Aly is very good and has a significant impact on proving the attitude of religious moderation. This can be seen from the loading factor value of the tolerance dimension with a value of (0.815) and the Local Culture Accommodative dimension (0.603). If the level of tolerance and accommodativeness to local culture is calculated to measure the level of religious moderation of students, then the views of students regarding religious moderation are on a scale of 73.42, which means they are in the moderate category. Abstract

This article aims to test the achievement of the requirements for mutawatir hadiths, which according to Juynboll’s view, in general, mutawatir transmissions will not be found in the Prophet's hadiths. He said that mutawatir hadith only occurred in a limited number of cases with non-standard and not clearly structured criteria, and if all hadith transmitters were presented individually, then they could not be included in the mutawatir criteria. This article uses a qualitative method with data sources throughout the canonical and pre-canonical hadith books. After an in-depth study of all the transmission lines, this article concludes that what Juynboll concluded was incorrect. This article found that the hadith about washing the khuffayn qualifies as a mutawatir hadith as required by Ibn Hajar.
