Abstract

SD Negeri Maumaru, located in Pabera Manera Village, Paberiwai District, East Sumba Regency, faces challenges in identifying students’ learning difficulties quickly and accurately. Teachers still rely on conventional approaches that require considerable time to analyze learning outcomes and determine appropriate remedial programs. To address this issue, the community service team utilized the results of a previous research project in the form of EDUMINE, an application developed using the Educational Data Mining (EDM) approach. This Community Empowerment Program (Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Pemula/PMP) aimed to enhance teachers’ competencies in utilizing EDUMINE to identify students’ learning difficulties and design data-driven remedial programs. The program wasimplemented through socialization, training, application implementation, mentoring, and evaluation stages. Evaluation was conducted using pre-tests, post-tests, observations, and participant feedback questionnaires. The results showed that all participating teachers (100%) were able to operate the EDUMINE application independently. Teachers’ competencies improved across all measured aspects, including understanding of Educational Data Mining (from 52.4 to 86.1), EDUMINE utilization (from 48.7 to 89.5), learning difficulty analysis (from 54.2 to 87.3), and remedial program development (from 56.8 to 88.4). The implementation of the application in mathematics learning successfully identified 27 students who required additional learning support, of whom 22 participated in remedial activities designed based on the application’s analytical results. Furthermore, 95% of participants provided positive feedback regarding the training program. These findings indicate that the training and mentoring activities using EDUMINE were effective in improving teachers’ competencies and supporting data-driven instructional decision-making in elementary schools.
