Abstract

Traffic This study evaluates the seismic response of a multi-storey hospital building at Primaya Hospital, Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia. Considering the importance of maintaining structural performance in essential healthcare facilities, the assessment focuses on the building’s dynamic characteristics, inter-story drift, and second-order effects under earthquake loading. A quantitative case-study approach was employed by modelling the eleven-storey reinforced concrete structure using ETABS. The structural evaluation was conducted through dynamic response spectrum analysis in accordance with Indonesian seismic design provisions, particularly SNI 1726:2019. The results indicate that the fundamental periods in the X and Y directions are 0.743 s and 0.977 s, respectively, while the first two vibration modes are predominantly translational and the third mode exhibits torsional behaviour. The cumulative modal mass participation reaches 100% in both horizontal directions by the thirty-fifth mode. The maximum inter-story drifts are 16.001 mm in the X direction and 28.398 mm in the Y direction, both of which remain below the reported allowable limit of 30.769 mm. Furthermore, the P-Delta coefficients are 0.0064 and 0.0117 in the X and Y directions, respectively, indicating that the Y direction exhibits a comparatively greater second-order effect. Overall, the evaluated parameters satisfy the corresponding criteria reported in the analysis, although the Y direction requires greater attention in structural assessment. These findings provide a basis for understanding the seismic response of the investigated hospital building. However, the results should not be interpreted as comprehensive evidence of building safety or post-earthquake hospital functionality, since member capacity, non-structural components, and essential utility systems were beyond the scope of this study.
